Former Nigeria defender slumps and dies

Former Nigeria defender Sani Abacha dies

Posted: 3 October 2013 Time: 06:50 pm

Former Nigeria defender Sani Abacha slumped and was pronounced dead early on Thursday morning in Ilorin.

The defender, who was 41, played for a host of clubs in Nigeria including Enyimba, Shooting Stars, Gateway and Kwara United, and was at Wednesday’s Nigeria Premier League game between ABS and Nadarawa United.

“He was like our team pastor,” ABS General Manager Alloy Chukwuemeka told KickOffNigeria.com. “He used to pray for the team before every game.

“He did the same thing before our game on Wednesday and then watched the match only to slump when he got home. He was taken to hospital where he died this morning.”

Abacha was buried on Thursday afternoon in Ilorin.

@Mikallon, pls look for were to advertise this ur Biafra stuff. Even when we now ve this Republic of Biafra, the problem of Nigeria ll still be there. The corrupt people ll ve in Nigeria ll be the same people that ll be in the hems of affair in Biafra. What we need in Nigeria is total revolution not a separative movement.

@Mickallon, this is a football forum. In sports, there is no place for politics. Maybe there are people on this forum who would give you the proper forum to go and peddle your small minded politics. Leave this forum for true Nigerians! I love all my Naija people and may The Almighty continue to make us strong. GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
