Lesbianism outlawed in Nigerian Women's League

Posted: 3 March 2013 Time: 05:56 pm

Lesbian players will be barred from playing in the Nigerian Women's League.

Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedinma, who heads the Women's League body, announced after the Annual General Assembly, that the practice is now officially banned.

According to Onyema, players found to be in contravention would be dismissed and also barred from representing Nigeria

“Any player that we find is associated with it will be disqualified,” she added.

“We will call the club chairmen to control their players, and such players will not be able to play for the national team.”

Onyema said the League body will work with clubs to stop the practice.

“It (lesbianism) is happening but we have to talk to the clubs, and look inside the clubs and these things have to do with clubs.

“There are particular clubs that don't even want to hear about it and once they heard it the players involved will be sacked,” Onyema, a member of the NFF executive committee, said.

Onyema's comments come two years after Super Falcons coach Eucharia Uche declared that the team were performing better because she had rid the squad of lesbians.

Well done for making a smart decision. Homosexuality is WRONG because God doesn't approve of it.

Dumb decision......This will destroy the Super Falcons because liberal western countries that are the powerhouses in women's foot ball will refuse to play Nigeria women's teams and with no quality competition they will become poor.

Instead of castigating people because of their sexual preferences which is different to heterosexuals, they should focus on developing African women football because Africa is always embarassed in Women World Cup and Olympics.

What does someone's sexuality have to do with someone's talent? Do all of you using God's name to perpetuate your prejudices, I assume, without deciding that you are without sin or any other blemish.

That said, I am not homosexual and never will be, but dislike religious zealots who are cause of so much strife trying to play Deputy God at the expense of people different to them. Someone's sexuality is none of their business. Let them fight fly by night preachers and leave their religious beliefs out of sport.

The reason SA has a constitution based on human dignity and equality is to protect vulnerable minority groups against prejudices of your kind. SA is not a Banana Republic. You can practice your intolerance somewhere else not in SA.

I wonder if Leonel Messi,CR7 or Toure can say that they are homosexual, will there be so much hala baloo.

Nor does he approve of killing innocent people, adultry and swindling the poor, yet you religious fundamentals kill in his name (Nigerain Muslim and Christian clashes), priests rape and sodomise kids and lastly false preachers live in opulence in the face of their stoke's grinding poverty while selling the pipe dream that God will bless provided they give \"offer\" the church money!

Shame on your hypocrisy. What does playing soccer have to do with religion? Really!

@Detmolder

You will burn in hell! If you don't believe, please refer to Sodom and Gomora. Satan is wating with his folk to toss you up in the flames. Forget the ancient Greek gods that told you about Hades and Zeus, Satan and God are REAL and right now there's nothing but air separating you and your one way ticket to hell.

Nigeria focuses on something that is totally irrelevant and has no bearing in football. A person's sexual orientation has nothing to do with the sport nor does it have any negative effect in team sports. The ban on Lesbianism is more likely religiously motivated.
Super Falcons want to be women's powerhouse in football like the USA, Germany and Brazil but yet they set in motion a work atmosphere that will deprive the players in living in denial and not being who they truly are. This idiotic and moronic ban will likely do more harm than good to the progress of Nigerian women's football.

So in other words you want the players to continue kopana each other in the dressing room before a big game and after a game in the shower.

Another hell candidate. You can call me the grim reaper; I'll toss you to the deepest hot realm in the universe aka HELL!

Like it or not religion has everything to do with sports. Religious morals give extra guidelines to sports stars, guidelines that aren't even included in a code of conduct.

If you think the only way people can stand up for the truth is by being perfect than you're lost. This is one of the reasons why so many people are starting to behave like animals these days. It because religious morals are considered to be taboo and trivial.

I salute the Nigerians for standing for what they belive in. Young children need role models that set a good example.

We already have role models. They are Abby Wambach (USA), Cristiane (Brazil), Birgit Prinz, (Germany) and Marta (Brazil). They are among the best in the world are they are also Lesbians. Every aspiring female football player wants to be like them. Thank you very much!!!

@Smoke

Christians will ALWAYS oppose homosexuality so you better start getting used to it. Christians participate in sports (better get used to this as well).

And stop lying hypocrite, not all aspiring female footballers wanna be like the lesbians you mentioned.
