Chukwu believes Nigeria can win Afcon

Posted: 10 February 2013 Time: 12:52 pm

Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has warned Nigeria not to underestimate Burkina Faso in today's Africa Cup of Nations Final.

“I pray that the Eagles will take the match more seriously and not underrate The Stallions otherwise they will be in trouble," Chukwu warns.

Chukwu, who captained Nigeria to its first Nations Cup title in 1980 and was assistant coach when Nigeria won the second in 1994, notes that both teams now have good knowledge of each other, having faced each other in the group stage of the competition.

"The two teams will want to settle scores this time around, after battling to a 1-1 draw at the group stage of the tournament. They have known us and we have known them. It is an indication that our group was the toughest in the tournament."

The former Enugu Rangers skipper however stated that he was confident of Nigeria's ability to win the competition for a third time.

"Considering the current form and the high morale of our boys, I am optimistic that we will come out victorious against The Stallions.

"Our attackers have started pumping in goals and the team in general has been improving with each game. If they maintain this form, they will be unstoppable," Chukwu says.

Kekana asked \"when was the last time Bafana managed to collect even something as low as bronze medals\" in a cup competition?

I'd like to echo the words of Idah Peterside, "Unfortunately me or my children won't around the next time Bafana ever decides to win this cup again. Maybe my children's children will see them win it. But with your current players (majority being PROUDLY Zebra), forget it in this life time.\"

Good luck Super Eagles. Well done to Keshi on assembling a team of just pure young talent within a matter of five weeks. After the tournament ends, please stay another five weeks to teach a few of our imbecile players with over 50 to 75 caps how 2 learn in five weeks; NOT five years or on their 100th cap! It's only a habit from grass eating animals with two shades of dark yellow (NOT gold) and black that continously fail.

I'm sure Nyawana can write a tell-all book titled, "Two Shades of Dark Yellow & Black: A Balz Guide To Successful Failure!\"

So now you felling good after your posting? No wonder SA fans have no role in building a better Bafana Bafana, no one will listen to this crap. time to show maturity and be constructive in your criticism. let us learn from other nations like Naija and stop with this Chiefs-Pirate centered Bafana support.

Back to the topic
we have seen a good showing from these two sides. not even an early goal from the supper eagles can unsettle Bukina faso. I predict a one all draw which will be settled on penalties. Good luck to both teams

@Masabza

Yes I feel good after my comment; in fact I feel great as I will expose how ill-informed you are! How can you say we as SA fans have never asked Pitso and Gordon to do what Keshi did; the dropping of dead wood such as Nyawana, Yeye, KG and etc. that don't take the country anywhere with their complacency? We've pleaded and bled our cries and constructive criticism coupled with solutions to clean the mess in the national team after seeing countries like France, Brazil, Egypt and most recently Nigeria do so by leading in example and throwing out the gutter that's hindering the growth of the national team. Even clever journalists, not these ones from DickOff, have also expressed the same thing.

This has nothing to do with Chimps or Pirates! It's about the nation! And need I remind you if indeed it was about Pirates and Chimps, then that's child's play compared to what hindered Nigeria's dominance in African football. Nigerians will agree with that not only politics was killing their soccer, but tribalism as well was also at the core of the problem. Issues such as \"This one's Igbo, we don't like them, this one speaks Yoruba, we don't like them\" and etc. Nigerians please stand up and say AMEN!

So as for you Masabza, next time know your story before uzokhefula lana and look like an idiot when there's bigger issues either than club rivalries that can destroy a national team!!! Stupid...
