Red card changed the game

Burkina Faso coach Paul Put admits that the red card to Efe Ambrose helped turn the tide of the game in Monday's 1-1 draw with Nigeria.

But the Belgian insists that his team were already on top and could well have still got the point.

"I think maybe the red card changed the game a bit, but we were playing better after a poor first-half and putting Nigeria under pressure," he told KickOffNigeria.com.

"It is a very good result for us, it feels like a win to draw against one of the favourites, and we will have a lot of confidence after this.

"Now the group is open. Anybody can qualify and we are confident we can be one of the teams to do so."

I didn't know that Nigeria had their own Sangweni and Khumalo. It's not advisable to throw stones when you living in a glass house. Indlu yegau inetha makunje.

Ay but Bance is ugly and arrogant. He needs to tone down on the arrogance since nothing can be done with his looks, maybe that will make him a better player. Heart-wise, I hope our Bafana realise what sort of people are playing in this game. Soldiers prepared to die for their teams. Same as what we saw in the DRC and Ethiopia teams.

All we can assure many is to prepaire for the exit of either Zambia or Burkina Faso or worse both. Nigeria hold the record of bad first games in AFCON..
By the end of the group matches it will come to pass...

The worst Eagles by all standard in as many nations cup. if Keshi had selected Obinna Nsofor, absence of Moses in the match wouldnt have mattered. If there is an Osaze, Musa won't play 94 minutes on the day he is having a bad day. If there is a Taiwo, Echegile will not be committing blunders here and there and still be feeling like a superstar. He will sure know that he wont start the next match. then, If Keshi knows his team he will definitely know that Efe can not play as a right back. He was woeful and how can Nigeria come to a tournament without a rightback? How about Nigeria's central defence. dismal, lacklustre and no coordination. Yobo should only be around to coordinate things and not to play. what happens the day you will meet Ivory coast that is if you will make it out of the group? Mikel the only visible Nigeria player will sure be swallowed by Yaya Toure,Zokora and Tiote's presence and that will be the end. Good bye keshi, Good bye half baked Keshi's Eagles.

Hmmm,We always blame it on something.Haven't you seen a team with an early red card and they later won the match?,Let alone a late red card. What's the best option if you are a man down at the last minute when you have a goal advantage?

Keshi if you are reading and also in case of next time, when something like that happen while you still have a goal up.Just change your team to 4-4-1 just to defend that goal. When I saw the red card,I thought that you were going to use a defensive formations to come out victory.Super Eagles really need a good coach.A ttechnically sound coach wouldn't let that lead sled at zero minute.

35% of the passes were given away,Position skills of the player were horrible.I thought Keshi saw the disastrous movement of the ball pass and i was hoping to see a change at the second half, the same first half miserable passes were still going on,which means,Keshi didn't notice the error.Enyeama caught the terrible mistake going on and was shouting over and over for the players to separate and be apart from each other but the guys were inexperienced to catch Enyeama's advice.

An experienced player has to waved his hand, pick a position alignments just to notify a ball holder where he is for an accurate pass but this guys were just standing like a tree while their team mates where giving passes to the opponent while Keshi,a coach didnt do any correction to that and he is looking forward to world cup 2014 and 18.My Gosh.

Depends on my observation since keshi took over,if you like give keshi a life time coach, there will be no progress. It would have been better if we didnt qualify than this humiliation i saw yesterday. We dont need a foreigh coach,we still have Ex-international players who knows 50 times more than keshi and had it been that NFF exercise patience,Siasia would have won this AFCON hands down.

Ghana, Zambia and Ivory Coast stand a chance of winning the AFCON and team with an outside chance are Ethiopia, RSA, Nigeria and DRC.

The challenge that is facing Bafana is team selection, we'll not be competitive due to poor team selection by Gordon. However, if we can improve on that I foresee Bafana doing well in this competition.

The following players can do a better job against Angola:
1) Khune 2) Anele 3) Matlaba 4) Sangweni 5) Khumalo 6) Yeye 7) Phala 8) Serero 9) Killer 10) Lerato 11) Rantie........

Ethiopia is more of a threat than Zambia, they pass the ball with an exeptional accuracy. Sunzu is as jittery a Yobo and Emenike will mess him up with his physical presense and composure. Nigeria and Zambia will surely be a cracker. I don't hate Yobo, but i will prefer Kenneth Omeruo in that position, i don't care who eventualy plays the right-back. Yobo is not fit to be Eagles captain. Nigerians deserve to be happy and we can achieve that by doing the right things without these sentiments of Yobo been committed. Na commitment 170 million citizens ( or more ) won chop ???. Good-luck to Super Eagles anyway.

Those of you still bemoaning the sacking of Siasia must wake up and face reality. Let Siasia go and prove himself elswhere. Talking about these eagles, i think NFF should learn from their foolishness. Some of us here even supported the dropping of Osaze, martins and Taiwo from the team. For God's sake, how on earth will any reasonable human being prefere useless Echiejile to Taiwo? What about Osaze who is so good and regular for his club? I don't want to blame Yobo that much because our fullbacks (Efe and Echiejile) are useless. Ogude shouldn't even be a footballer because he doesn't looks like one. I praise Mikel, Emenike, Ideye, Enyeama and Omeruo. Musa and Nosa will be more useful in our subsequent games. May God help my fatherland.

my overall assessment is that nigeria played very well, though not anigeria ,have watched many nigeria matches and was impressed with their ball control.coordination and clearly visible game ....they are not known to be a great starter of a tournament, let us wait and see ,still believe they ill be among the contenders.

KESHI changed the game. Like I was said, KESHI is very incompetent and lacks knowledge of the game, in addition, he is very corrupt individual because his selection of players for this competition says it all. When I mentioned last 3 weeks in this forum, that KESHI is unpatriotic, some people was against my assertion. Well, who is now vindicated. Which good coach makes the type of team selection he made, and even made it worse by choosing the wrong team for the Burkinafaso game. KESHI-AMOKACHI-SHORUNMU combos should GO for Nigeria chicken Eagles to restore their Super Eagles status. A lot of the merit SE's players leftout of this team would not like to play under KESHI, which put our worldcup qualifiers campaign in jeopardy. Nigeria Super Eagles need a change, and I think a foreign coach, so that the much maligned sentiments & tribalism in NFF to be abolished. With regard to the Burkinafaso game, why did KESHI sub Emenike? Why did KESHI start Efe over Omeruo? Why did KESHI start Ogude over Obiora, Onazi, or Gabriel? Why was Efe & Ogude carrying yellow cards and at risk of red card left in the field too long? Why was Musa (who over carried the over & lack good decision-making) started over Uche? Too many mistakes for one competitive game tells you KESHI is not a coach, not even a average one. Nigerians wake-up & say NO!!! to this debacles mediated by NFF & KESHI because our football is even becoming more embarrassment than it has ever been.

This had been Nigerian style of play right from our falling days. Play very impressive football like men, but end it all like women. Part of the reason for bringing on Keshi is to fix the Nigerian Defence. After one year if he didnt do that what happens? We never lacked good strikers, we lacked good defenders.

As I said before, I will give my final accessment of this Couch and this side after our second match with Zambian team. Hands to Heart still crossed, watching and waiting.

Coaching cost us the game. Not the red card.
Why have men forward with 1 min to go looking for a second goal instead of having one or 2 to hold the ball in the corner and run out time...
Poor tactics, substitution, and cost us the game.

@Syde, I said congrats to Burkina faso and shame to super eagles because the Igbo people have an adage that says \" if an opponent in a wrestling match draws a circle on the ground and boasts that he will have your back in the circle when he wins you, and he accomplishes his boast, then it is a superior win\"
They said that they will get at least a draw, and they did. Eagles said they will win and did not. so shame on our eagles.

At Apiripah, I go with you one hundred percent. Really nothing to add because you said it all with your hammer, you kept hitting it on the head. What indications define our advancement in this competion? It might require rocket science to put it all together and I doubt the coaching crew have a clue.
Keshi should drop his American wannabe lingo and his Fergie garment and ask for help. He needs more tactically sound company. Without attempting to compare, he should do what Sia1 did by getting help. Sia1 had that Dutch fellow by his side to help him read matches and the results often spoke positively.
