House of Reps wade into Okpala's case

NFF must pay Sylvanus Okpala his outstanding financial entitlements

The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has charged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay dismissed tactician Sylvanus Okpala his outstanding financial entitlements.

Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Ayo Omidiran, while criticizing the NFF for not paying Okpala his entitlements, revealed that she had not come in contact with the ex-international's petition to the Committee.

Omidiran stated that if she had been aware of the petition, she would have ensured the matter was amicably resolved without recourse to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), were Okpala has referred the matter in his search for justice.

”If I had seen his petition nothing would have made him to petition the Federation to CAS because we would have resolved it once and for all," the lawmaker told Vanguard.

"The truth is that NFF should pay him all his dues, and I can assure you that once I see the petition action would be taken and Okpala will withdraw his petition to CAS.

"He should not have gone that far but that is the highest arbitration body in sports administration in the world, I know that once we step in, he would withdraw the petition."

Interesting. A man that have served his nation well, was a hero, won a nation cup for his country and played his part in the last winning team to the AFCON is been treated like this. I wonder how the youth will aspire to be patriotic with this kind of treatment on someone like Okpala.

After mending fences with the Super Eagles head
coach, the Potters’ forward believes Nigeria can
still have a decent World Cup outing without him
Stoke City forward Osaze Odemwingie has revealed that the
Super Eagles can do well at the 2014 Fifa World Cup, even
without him.
The former Cardiff City player who recently mended fences
with coach Stephen Keshi said he was upset at being
dropped from the Eagles’ squad to the 2013 Africa Cup of
Nations and has realised his mistakes.
"I have been speaking with the coach, it's the only right
thing to do,\" Odemwingie told BBC Sport.
"I had to be humble and make a step forward towards my
senior colleagues.
"You can't continue to stay in that angry state of mind.
Staying in that state, it's not the right thing to do. It's never
helpful for anyone,\" he continued.
"It was very disappointing at the time, it was hard to accept
it. I had a strong feeling that it was Nigeria's time to win it.
I was as frustrated as any other player.\"
Odemwingie praised the impact of the national team's
psychologist Robinson Okosun towards helping him
improve his relationship with Keshi.
“For me to hear that was very important on a human level.
It's not about people, its always about the country. We're
all defending the colours of our nation.
"Coach Keshi can do without me at the World Cup and my
life will go on as well, but the most important thing is
mutual respect.
"Now I know how he does things and how he wants things
done and vice versa,” concluded the 32-year-old forward.

Please Sylvanus make sure they include the accrued interest when they wake up from their slumber and realize that paying what is owed is a RESPONSIBILITY that can not be avoided by any RESPONSIBLE party.

This man was sack because the NFF thoughts he was the brain behind Keshi's Success and the brain behind Keshi's resolved not to dance to their tune... It is obvious the previous evil intend players that had formally made the Super Eagles resting park are, with the help of the unpatriotic NFF are behind the man's sack. The best is for Keshi and some real sport loving make sure this man is on the plane to Brazil even if he is not to be paid by the NNF...and secondly Keshi should make sure those so called best legs that have achieved only for themselves in the past continued to work for themselves only by denying them Brazil... We will happily accept the failures of the set that work for the ticket that to have best legs with only their self-interest to serve...

@ HB CRISPY, thank you very much for the post, If Yobo and Osaze can admit and apologize for their mistakes, who is Ik Uche? Uche is a pure mugu for life, simply tender your apology and go to the world cup and beef up your CV...I have read over and over again the osaze`s last sentence: "Now I know how keshi does things and how he wants things
done and vice versa,” concluded the 32-year-old forward....this is a total submission statement..It still beats my imagination that ik uche allowed some enemies of progress to misguide him, if Osaze and yobo who have been to the world cup before can massage their ways into the team after the frosty relationship with coach keshi...then what does uche stands to gain after all his brilliant displays in football world and had opportunity to go to the world cup and he blew it out of stupid ego....

I told u Maigari is a wrong choice for that post.its just that the boyz are performing that's why we could not notice the flows of NFF. Their perceived enemies are being hunted,Examples is the case of Nembe city exclusion from the league, one of the conditions for Nembe's re-admittance is ti drop Baribote from the board of the club he owned and financing from his pocket.can u imagine?
